The Club has a long and rich history dating back to the early 1950s when boaters used canvas and home made fiberglass river boats from Club owned molds to explore California rivers.
The Club has changed over the years and due to insurance regulations, no longer owns its fiberglass molds or its instructional boats.
The River Touring Section of the San Francisco Bay Chapter of the Sierra Club is currently dormant for lack of officers. If you have interest in getting together with other volunteers to revive the section, contact Activities Committee chair Steve Bakaley at SLBakaley@LBL.gov.
The Paddlers’ News Bulletin is published each month through the Mother Lode Chapter of the Sierra Club. This newsletter includes upcoming trips and races from paddling clubs around the state as well as conservation and safety articles, reports on past trips, and want/sell ads. Contact Barbara Bitner at BKBitner@hotmail.com to submit articles or place an ad. To subscribe to a free, full-color digital version of the newsletter sign up at www.tinyurl.com/paddlersnewsbulletin.
CONSERVATION: We have had a active conservation program for over 30 years. The club continues to be active in river conservation and access issues.
