Welcome to the web page of the largest environmentally focused singles organization in Northern California. The purpose of this web page is two-fold:
Provide a description of what Sierra Singles is all about to people who are deciding whether to subscribe to our newsletter San Francisco Bay Chapter Sierra Singles Schedule.
Augment our newsletter with materials such as photographs taken on our trips, profiles of leaders, and letters to the editor, which cannot be contained in the San Francisco Bay Chapter Sierra Singles Schedule because of space and printing reasons.
Sierra Singles is an activity section of the San Francisco Bay Chapter of the national Sierra Club. Our organization includes nearly 100 volunteer leaders who organize activities including: dayhiking, backpacking, cross country and down hill skiing, river rafting, bicycling, car camping, sea kayaking, environmental education programs, social events such as dances, and cultural events such as visits to special museum exhibits. Our leaders organize approximately 50 activities each month. Most of the activities have no charge; the few activities for which fees are collected are priced to break even.
There are currently over 1000 subscribers to the San Francisco Bay Chapter Sierra Singles Schedule. Most of these subscribers are in the age range of late 20s to early 50s; however, anyone over 21 years of age is welcome to attend any activity. Some activities are intended for single parents who can bring their children.
There are two other sections within the SF Bay Chapter where like-minded singles can join together for activities: Solo Sierrans which has an older subscriber population than Sierra Singles, and Gay And Lesbian Sierrans.
