East Bay Dinner: "The Beauties of Thailand"

Thursday, January 26, no-host cocktails/social hour - 6 pm, dinner - 7:00, program - 8:00, Berkeley Yacht Club on the Berkeley Marina, one block north of the west end of University Avenue (ample free parking is available in the Marina parking lots).

Join Dan Julian for a program showing the beauty of Thailand, a land of exquisite temples, magnificent ruins, and beautiful scenery. No matter how delightful the physical beauty of the land, it is surpassed by the Thai people. They, their culture, and their philosophy of life are the most fascinating part of a visit to Thailand.

After his retirement from the Contra Costa County Probation Department, Dan turned to his two favorite pastimes: travel and photography. He has visited many, many countries and special places, and made slide shows focusing on the unique culture and geography of each country.

In Italy it became clear to him why it was indeed the land of the Renaissance. In Spain he found that the Pyrenees form a natural division between Celtic and Moorish cultures. After that he found that the influence of the Moors in Spain had been carried even farther afield by the Spanish invaders, who took so much of it into Mexico. In another slide show that he presented to the Sierra Club, his focus was on the majestic scenery and wildlife of Alaska.

Dan's presentation will give you an understanding and appreciation of a faraway country and the fascinating Thai people.
