Snowcamping Training Series: applications due Jan. 7

Application deadline: Saturday, January 7.

It's time to get your application in to be part of this winter's Snowcamping Training Series. The series includes a mandatory full day of classroom training on Sat., Jan.. 21, in Oakland and two trips - one for two days, the other for three. For Training Series alumni, there's also a series of special trips. This winter's trip dates (with leaders' names) are listed below. Groups fill up; the earlier you get your application in, the better chance you have of being accepted in the group of your choice.

Training trips:

  • Group 1 (Poch, Somkin): Feb. 4 - 5, Feb. 18 - 20 (alternate March 18 - 20)
  • Group 2 (Sedlander, Traverso): Feb. 4 - 5, March 4 - 6 (alternate March 18 - 20)
  • Group 3 (Collingwood, Pastine): Jan. 28 - 29, Feb. 11 - 13 (alternate Feb. 25 - 27)
  • Group 4 (Hoffman, Ehlers): Jan. 28 - 29, Feb. 10 - 12 (alternate Feb. 17 - 19)
  • Group 5 - Family Group (Faulkner, McQueen): Feb. 4 - 5, Feb. 24 - 26 (alternate Feb. 11 - 12)

Alumni trips:

  • Dec. 30 - Jan. 1, New Years Eve Celebration (Riebersal, Bailey)
  • Feb. 10 - Feb. 12, Mariposa Grove (Johnson, Bailey)
  • March 11- 13, Robbs Hut (Johnson, Bailey)
  • March 11 - 12, Dewey Point (Sawchuck)

March 17 - 19, Peter Grubb Hut (Allanson, Hoffman)
March 24 - 26, Winter Gourmet (Johnson, Bailey)
April 8 - 9, Try it on Skis (Riebersal)

Fees are $96 for each adult ($101 for non-Sierra Club members) and $20 for each child (Family Section only). If your application and payment are postmarked by Dec.17, adults qualify for a $10 early-bird discount on the full adult fee. Most alumni trips are $20 per trip ($25 for non-Sierra Club members).
