Marin Group: "The Creek Where You Live"
Thursday, January 26, 7 - 9 pm, at the Mill Valley Community Center, 160 Camino Alto, Mill Valley.
Come to a lively, interactive program on creek protection and restoration, presented by the Sierra Club Marin Group, Friends of Corte Madera Creek Watershed,
and Mill Valley StreamKeepers.
Speakers will be:
- Betsy Bikle, president, Mill Valley StreamKeepers;
- Charles Kennard, photographer, Friends of Corte Madera Creek Watershed;
- Dr. Juliet Lamont, environmental consultant and vice-chair, Sierra Club Bay Chapter;
- A. L. Riley, watershed and river-restoration advisor, San Francisco Bay Regional Water Quality Control Board.
Topics to be covered will include:
- how healthy creeks and watersheds reduce flooding and improve water quality;
- how citizens are protecting and restoring creeks and watersheds in their neighborhoods;
- the importance of creeks in the green infrastructure of the community;
- how local residents can get involved in creek and watershed programs;
- the Marin Countywide Plan: what policies for stream and riparian protection should the county consider in its current review?
